Prep Roundup: Southside girls win Area opener

Laterika Edwards scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Southside knocked off Greensboro 35-27 to win their Area 8, Class 3A opener on Tuesday.

Jakeria Robinson added eight points, six rebounds and four assists. Markeria Robinson and Jameria Moore each grabbed seven rebounds. for the Lady Panthers (6-2, 1-0).

Meadowview Christian School 44, Snook Academy 27: Allan Holt scored 20 points as the Trojans won their  first game of the season. Will Bennett added 19 points and Amarii Rucker scored 15 for MCS.

Greensboro 59, Southside 55: The Panthers (3-5, 0-1) dropped their Area 5, Class 3A opener. Chris Thomas scored 15 points. Barian Moorer added 14, Jaylen Kennedy and Tre Towns each scored 10.

Autaugaville 60, Dallas County 33: The sixth-ranked Hornets (7-2) dropped their second straight contest on Wednesday in Autauga County.
