Selma Police Department investigating two weekend incidents

The Selma Police Department is investigating two incidents that occurred over the weekend.

In the first incident, Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said a 29-year-old black female was shot around 1 a.m. Sunday morning on the 1400 block of Water Avenue.

“Officers responded to the emergency room in reference to a gunshot victim,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, they made contact with a female with multiple gunshot wounds. The female stated she was on the 1400 block of Water Avenue when shots rang out and she was struck.”

Fulford said the female victim was transported to a Tuscaloosa hospital to get treated for injuries.

In the second incident, Fulford said an African-American man was assaulted by several unknown subjects inside the club Drips. Fulford added that the victim was treated at the emergency room and left on his own.

Fulford didn’t reveal the two victim’s identities.
