Selma suspect arraigned on multiple drug charges

A Selma man was arraigned in the Dallas County Courthouse Monday for multiple drug charges.

Alfred Green, 48, was arraigned for trafficking methamphetamine and heroin, unlawful distribution and possession of marijuana, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

When the Dallas County Sheriff Office (DCSO) arrested Green on July 22, the original charges were drug trafficking, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Dallas County District Court Judge Bob Armstrong set Green’s bond at $500,000, less than the original amount of $1.5 million set last week.

Agents of the DCSO Narcotics Unit witnessed Green retrieve illegal narcotics from an old vehicle July 16 at the block of 11 Gregory Street before driving off in an old red and gray Dodge Dakota truck without a tag.

A search warrant was conducted at the block of 203 Furniss Avenue on July 22 in reference to distributing illegal narcotics. During the search warrant on the vehicle, DCSO made contact with Green. Green had an outstanding warrant for distributing meth and stated he had marijuana in the bedroom of his residence. He gave agents verbal consent to search inside his residence. Investigators found marijuana on a bedroom dresser.  He was arrested.

Armstrong set Green’s preliminary hearing on Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the Dallas County Courthouse.
