Troy to host Alabama A&M in 2022 home opener
Troy University will renew its football rivalry against Alabama A&M in two years.
The Trojans will host the Bulldogs on Sept. 10, 2022 at Veterans Stadium in Troy. It will be Troy’s home opener.
This will be only the second meeting between the two in-state schools. Troy beat Alabama A&M 28-13 in its 2000 season opener at Normal.
Trojans coach Chip Lindsey spoke at the Selma Quarterback Club on Oct. 7 at the Selma Convention Center.
Several Dallas County residents have attended Troy over the years, including Selma School of Discovery Genesis Center Guidance Counselor Kesia Smith and Harriet Winchester of Safford. Winchester is a former Lady Trojan basketball player and played at Keith.
Ten Dallas County natives made the Chancellor’s List for the spring semester: Shakira Fulford, Peyton Harvill, Michael Krunosky,Carrie Lewis, Johnnaca Reed, Eric Sajna, Dajah Thrash, Sarah Mitchell Wagoner, Kendrell Hamilton and John Wood.
Fulford and JoAnna Adkison earned degrees in Health and Human Services. Frances Brantley and Khadoe-Ra Crosby earned degrees in Arts and Sciences and Communication and Fine Arts. Reed and Tanner Lyons received education degrees.
Local high school graduates planning to attend Troy in the fall include Aaneus Gary of Selma High School, Kenley Kauffman, KaLee Jones, Mary Elizabeth Todd, Tindall Albritton and Maggie Colley, all of Morgan Academy and Carl McGhee of Dallas County High. School.
