Dallas County’s Summer Feeding Program is officially in full swing.

Dallas County Summer Food Service Director Elizabeth Smiley said this year’s program is already on track to serve more meals than last year.
Since the program began on June 8, Smiley said an average of 300 meals per day have been served.

The is sponsored by the Dallas County Commission and Dallas County Schools.

Funding from the program comes from Dallas County’s annual budget and Dallas County Schools provides the workers to prepare the meals.

Smiley thanked Dallas County Probate Judge and Commission Chairman Jimmy Nunn and Dallas County Schools Superintendent Hattie Shelton for signing the proper paper work to get the program going.

The lunches are available for pick up only on Monday – Friday from 10:45 a.m. – 12:01 p.m. at five locations: Sardis Unity Fellowship, Keith Middle High School, Little Rock Church, House of Prayer Church and Pine Glen Community Association Building No. 37.

“It’s a blessing to be able to serve these children,” said Smiley. “This program is very important to Dallas County’s youth. They need these lunches.
