Parade of Hats returns

The Order of the Eastern Star St. Mary Chapter No. 367 will be showing off an assortment of headwear at its Parade of Hats Program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on 3240 Highway 22.

At the program, members and those who want to participate will showcase a large array of hats. The event also allows for pastors, chapters and the public to fellowship with one another.

Plaques and certificates will also be distributed to members of the chapter.

Rosa Honor, who has been a member of the Chapter No. 367 for 28 years, urges the public to participate in the hat showcasing.

“The Parade of Hats was created to bring the people in the community together and allow them to fellowship with one another,” Honor said. “I feel great about it. I have been the matron now for 18 years and each year we had the Parade of Hats program. It has been great.”

According to Honor, the program usually garners 50-100 visitors all interested in displaying and viewing hats. She said she would like to attract more for the event this year.
